The Cure

When The Cure banded together early in 1976 in Crawley, West Sussex, England, they were known as The Easy Cure. After shortening the name, they began releasing their music in the late-’70s with their 1979 debut album “Three Imaginary Boys” and several singles.

The Cure’s first US tour came in 1980 with stops in New York City and Boston, the latter of which took place at the Underground in Allston on frontman Robert Smith’s 21st Birthday. The band is still going strong and has sold more than 40 million albums over its 40-year run.

As of this writing, the Cure will appear on June 16 at Agganis Arena at Boston University, only a few blocks from where they played in Allston in 1980 at the Underground with Mission of Burma. Ticket price for that great double bill? A staggering $5.
