Human Sexual Response at Streets

Human Sexual Response at Streets

Streets the nightclub opened in 1981 soon after the funerals and burial were over for the Underground. Two of the principal movers Jim Coffman and Michael Whittaker from the Underground migrated up to Commonwealth Avenue, at Harvard Avenue in Allston, to join club forces with club manager Digney Fingus in running the operation.

During Winter 1982 Human Sexual Response was booked at Streets and brought in a film crew to shoot a four song promotional video tape. Producer Jan Crocker and Director/Editor Ben Bergery arranged a 10-man crew with a remote recording studio to shoot the bands two sets. The night of the filming, the club was packed and HSR put on a colorful and lively show — they pretty much nailed it. Crocker and Bergery spent the next three months editing the footage after hours at Multivison’s studios in Needham.

In the Spring they handed over the final work to the band, and a few weeks later Human Sexual Response disbanded. Streets closed its doors shortly thereafter. Crocker went on to edit the remaining songs from that show in 2010 and later that year delivered a DVD to the band. HSR returned to Boston’s House of Blues in 2012 for a reunion show and to celebrate the release of the DVD “Unba Unba”.

You can see several clips from the DVD in the Archive Portal and can pick up a copy from the DVD Store.
