ASK MARC A QUESTION:

Your posters in the Gallery have both a moody illustrative and a comix book look. Why those stylistic approaches?

There was a lot of cross over between posters, fanzines, buttons, and 45 sleeves. You created a coloring book and the fanzine Tales of Sleeze, as well as a 45 sleeve. Tell us how that work came about.

You collaborated a lot with artist Pat McDowell. She created many of the nighttime city scape illustrations for your band. Can you tell us about Pat McDowell and her work?

For the most part we all have influences on the things that we do. Who influenced your design style?

Many show poster designers were musicians. Do you think that’s a prerequisite or just a function of them being artistic and creative people?

The poster from the Club with Lou Miami and the Kozmetixs and the Marc Thor band, I’m thinking that’s Blonde in a White Car right? What came first the poster or the song and is that Lou in drag in the trunk?

Some people say the music poster is usually a billboard for the style or the type of music they are likely to see and the “personality” of the band. Do you think that is true of the posters found in the Flashpoint Gallery?

If you had the digital tools of today in the 80’s do you think the style you created would have taken on a different look and what might your work looked like?

What would you like people to know about the projects and work your creating here in New York City?
